Communication No. 2/2020 of the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of May 29, 2020
regarding validity of student’s ID cards, Ph. D. student’s ID cards and academic teacher’s ID cards
Dear students, Ph. D. students and didactic employees of Medical University of Silesia in Katowice,
According to the information obtained from Ministry of Higher Education and Science, with the provisions of act of April 16, 2020, regarding specific support instruments due to SARS-CoV-2 virus spreading (Journal of Law of 2020, item 695), amendments of the act of June 20, 2018, The Law on Higher Education and Science were made, within the scope of prolonging by virtue of law the validity of student’s ID cards and academic teacher’s ID cards.
On the basis of art. 51b item 4 of the act of The Law on Higher Education and Science, in the period of suspended or limited functioning of universities (which was prolonged to September 30, 2020 by Ministry of Health) as well as 60 days after it’s finalisation, student’s ID cards and academic teacher’s ID cards are valid, without the necessity to confirm it’s validity. Such provision applies also to ID cards which have expired within 30 days before suspension or limiting the functioning of the University. Analogous regulation regarding validity of Ph.D. student’s cards was included in art. 198b of the act of The Law on Higher Education and Science.
In the light of the above, there is no necessity to appear in person to prolong the validity of given ID cards.
